"Thomas S. Kuhn defiende en "La Teoría Del Cuerpo Negro Y La Discontinuidad Cuántica" la tesis de que este concepto revolucionario no nació de la obra de Max Planck, sino de la de otros físicos -Ehrenfest, Einstein y Lorenz- que trataron de explicar el éxito de la nueva teoría planckiana del cuerpo negro. En la primera parte de la obra el autor describe la génesis de esta teoría, esencialmente clásica, y dedica especial atención a la deuda contraída con la teoría estadística de la irreversibilidad de Boltzmann, muy poco estudiada hasta ahora. En la segunda sección examina cómo surgió el concepto de discontinuidad cuántica en la obra de Ehrenfest, Einstein y Lorentz, mientras que los dos capítulos finales se ocupa del estado de la teoría cuántica en 1911 y 1912, época en que la discontinuidad había quedado incorporada definitivamente a la física."
